DAY 1:

Cañón del Salto Canopy Tour (In Hacienda Santa Rita) Transfer fron Quito in private tourist transportation and with a guide, to the south until to get in 1h45 to Hacianda Santa Rita where there is one of the nicest attractions in the region, The Salto Canopy Tour. El Cañon del Salto Canopy is a transportation system based on harnesses and pulleys attached to an inclined cable, taking advantage of gravity. This system was used by scientists who were doing research in the forest canopy. They avoided coming down to the ground and climbing up the next tree by using this system. El Cañón del Salto Canopy Tour is a safe way to enjoy high mountain forest from the upper part. This is an environmentally low-impact adventure; it gives people with few or no climbing techniques knowledge to live an exciting experience. This lates 3hours, then you will go to Hacienda El Porvenir for lunch, rest and recognize a traditional Andean farm. Dinner and lodging.


DAY 2:

Mountain Biking After complete breakfast we start the mountain biking adventure with an exciting downhill track from a parking lot located at 4500 m (14,760 ft) on the slopes of Cotopaxi Volcano. In addition to admiring the stunning landscape, the descend for the volcano to Limpiopungo Valley is adrenaline filled, followed by a cross-country ride through the bed of an old landslide formed by lava and mud flows from past volcano eruptions. We will ride by old ruins dating back to the Inca Empire where we have a lunch break. The adventure resumes when we reach Hacienda El Porvenir biking trough the magical Andean forest filled with abundant flora and fauna, rivers, ravines and waterfalls. Dinner and lodging.


DAY 3:

Rumiñahui Climbing After breakfast we begin our climb of Rumiñahui Volcano very early in the morning, crossing vast highlands swept by the cold breath of the Andes. In one single picture one can take in valleys, mountains and neighboring volcanoes. On a cloudless day, we will even have the opportunity to admire in the distance Ilinizas peaks and Chimborazo, the highest snow-capped mountain of Ecuador. This climb is ideal for acclimatization programs. It starts at 3600 m (11,811 ft) and goes up to 4615 m (15141 ft) on Rumiñahui's central peak. It takes about 7 hours the whole journey. A box lunch is included. After dinner and lodging.


DAY 4:

Horseback riding and hiking After breakfast a brief lesson is given in the morning at Hacienda El Porvenir to teach us how to ride and get acquainted with the horses. Wearing the typical "Chagra" attire, we will begin a visit to the foothills of Rumiñahui volcano, riding side by side with herds of wild horses and bulls. Our native guides will share their knowledge of medicinal plants. The ride takes about 4 hours. Afterwards a delicious lunch of local dishes awaits us at the farmhouse. In the afternoon we hike to Manto Blanco waterfall. Dinner and lodging.


DAY 5:

Cotopaxi National Park In the morning a complete breakfast will give all the energy you need to this day. Upon arriving at the Park, we will visit the interpretation center where descriptions of the local flora and fauna as well as the history of the major eruptions of the world's highest active volcano are provided. From the parking lot, we will begin by climbing up to the refuge(4,800 m /15,744 ft.). Back in the parking lot, we continue on to Limpiopungo Lake. During the exciting journey that we keep on our vehicle, we can admire streams and large rocks where volcanic remains are still evident. We pass the Pucará del Salitre, a strategic military fortress of the Inca Empire. The drive will then end at the farmhouse in Hacienda El Porvenir, where a delicious supper awaits us.
